Back from London

Sat Jul 25, 2009, 7:10 AM
First of all, I actually got back on Thursday, but I had so many other things to do before this (like playing my new games =P ) that I didn't have the time until now.

So, London was great, even though it didn't really differ much from Helsinki and it rained for most of the time. I didn't get much digital photos, only 130 :D, but most of them are from the British Museum so maybe not exactly the type to upload here. I did get a full roll of photos on my Canonet and I'm guessing it was colour film (once again I'm not really sure, 'cause it had been in the camera for a month or so) and though it was really rainy, it was rather warm, some might say hot; around 22C (don't know how to get the little circle there =P ). Especially I liked the Lloyd's building and the Gherkin and the area was the best; every single person that walked there was wearing a black suit (women of course a dress or something like that) and at that time it was getting really hot so: black+sunlight=not so comfy :)

Also one thing there was great; all cd's, games, dvd's and that sort of things were really cheap, so I went crazy (to my usual spending level at least) and bought two cd's (Arctic Monkeys's Favourite Worst Nightmare (love it) and Kaiser Chiefs's Off With Their Heads (not as good as their older albums)) and two pc-games (Assassin's Creed, which was not allowed to people younger than 15 and I still got asked for an ID, dammit, and Mirror's Edge). The CD's cost only 10£ together (from HMV) and the games I got for the amazing combined price of 25£ (from Game (kinda logical place to buy games, eh :D)) If I'd bought them from Finland, they would've costed me something around 100€ (about 86,7£;), so I got them about 51,7£ cheaper!

Few things I've got to complain about: Why haven't the undergrounds (don't know if I can say it like that in plural) got any air conditioning, it's especially horrible during the rush hours, and one had air conditioning but it was turned to the hottest position, wtf? And another thing, why aren't there any rubbish bins. The only ones I found were right next to some tourist attractions like the Tower of London.

So, for those who haven't been to London, I really suggest you to go there. And I'm hoping the film photos were succesful.

London

Wed Jul 15, 2009, 8:58 AM
So, as you probably guessed from the title, I'm going to London with my family. Yay :D We're leaving on Monday morning and coming back on Thursday evening. I'm really excited about it and hoping that my camera won't get stolen or dropped into the Thames =P I'm really good at dropping things.
I'll take my 400D and probably the Canonet with me, so I think I'll have a lot of photos when we come back and finally get something submitted.

If you know any good places to visit in London, I'd be happy to hear them.

Website issues

Tue Jun 2, 2009, 12:48 AM
Just a quick question: does anyone know any good place to either buy a (cheap) domain or to publish your website, 'cause apparently, as I've got a new internet connection provider, I'm not anymore allowed to contact the server where my website was and therefore my website doesn't exist anymore.

+I should probably buy a new subscription as I'm already getting really angry about all the ads, especially the ones in my gallery.

Alive but not kicking

Journal Entry: Mon Mar 23, 2009, 3:52 AM
Whoa, it's been a long time since I wrote a journal entry, last one was ...wait... in December 31! But well, there hasn't really been anything art-related since that, just some occasional photographs here and there, but nothing big.
But now there is something; I finally got to the end of a film roll and got it developed. Now I've just got to get it scanned. I'll probably do that in Wednesday when my exam week starts and I have REALLY short days, like from 8am to 10.30am, or something like that -- it really depends how fast I get the exams done --, so I have time after that to go to the schools arts class' scanner, the same I used for the last roll. So, my thoughts started to wander around, for a change =P, what I meant to say earlier: the roll has been in my Canonet since Autumn 2008, or something like that, and I've been taking couple shots here and there, so I'm not really sure what there really is and towards the end I didn't even remember if it was colour of bw film.

Mainly I've been using my time since January-February playing Half-Life and CS:S. Though I'm really pissed that I can't play the Episode 1, nor 2, 'cause my computer can't run them... I just have them pissing me off in the top right hand corner of my eye... I hope I can get a summer job, so I can get enough money to buy a new computer and get to go to Assembly Summer 09.

And also, this face is also now in the Book, meaning Facebook of course. That site is so unnecessary, but still kinda fun with all the weird tests.

And also, yay, 16 days 'til my birthday :w00t:

And as you might have, unless you're colourblind or something, I have a new CSS background.

Important news

Journal Entry: Wed Dec 31, 2008, 7:15 AM
I finally got my totally new website working and ready to be uploaded. I already put some parts of it up, but it's still missing some galleries, 'cause I've been having space issues as I'm only allowed to have 50 Mb on the server, so I have to either put up less photos or lower the quality. Though I already put the website up, there will be some updates to it and I've got a problem with the resolution of the images as they're optimized to 1280x1024 which is my resolution, so I might have to do few different versions of it to choose from. So I'm open for suggestions and please tell me if it looks bad on 16:9 screens or on higher resolutions.

That's it for now.

And happy new year!
